Before I became a geezer myself, it always seemed to me that older people incessantly complained about their inability to get a good night’s sleep. In fact, I remember a former father-in-law of mine who insisted that he never slept, period.
As I approached my golden years I was sort of expecting that I might be the same way, but I found that I was just the opposite — I slept all the time. Falling asleep in my easy chair was part of my normal routine, as was living through several close calls while dozing on long drives. (Imagine Chevy Chase in the 1983 movie, Vacation.)
I also seemed to be sleeping at night in bed, albeit fitfully, and found myself sometimes snoozing through my morning newspaper. Of course, I was a classic victim of sleep apnea, and soon took steps to treat it.
I’m happy to report that I pretty much get a normal night’s sleep now. The only drawback is that I’m so well rested I can’t doze in my easy chair — even if I want to.

seems like I’m toying with the same thing. Thanks
