About That Lead In Your Pencil

As we begin the new year, I hope everyone who needs it has lead in their pencil. And you can choose to see that as a euphemism or not — your choice — but the subject of the post is real lead pencils.

Of course, modern pencils use graphite — not lead — but for the most part they are still referred to as lead pencils, and the thingy in the middle is called the lead. Which brings us to our latest foray into odd sculptures. As you can see from the pictures below, this guy actually carves tiny objects from the lead — er, graphite — in pencils.

Amazing.

  2. I have to whole-heartedly agree with Peter….

The first time I saw these, amazing as they may be, I thought to myself, “Somebody needs to get a life!”

Of course if the truth be known, I’m probably just extremely jealous because I can’t hardly see the point of a pencil anymore, much less see if Elvis is smiling back from the tip! 🙂

    Happy New Year!

  3. At least these little graphite masterpieces will last longer than sand or ice sculptures — unless someone grabs one of them and tries to write a note.
