Today I thought I’d once again indulge one of my pet peeves, the ridiculous amounts paid in auction for works of art. But this time I’m just doing it with a slideshow, because I covered my feelings on this subject in a previous piece titled Call Me A Barbarian. Just like that one, today’s effort is triggered by the recent auction of a Marc Rothko painting. It’s his “Orange, Red, Yellow”, which went for $87 million even though it’s pretty much just a big orange square with a couple of fuzzy colored bands added.
Yep, this makes me laugh as well.
If I was hungry, rather have a can of baked beans than a Picaso.
